Did the long awaited Mizuno Wave Run 2008 this morning.

Woke up at 5 am to shower. The best part i had diarhorrea this morning and was in the toilet for a very long time.

Arranged to mt up my friend, Billy at 6 am. Was hoping that my diarhorea would be okie before the run as throughout the journey to Tampiness, my stomach was churning.

Reach TP @ 0715 hrs and i told billy that i need to find the toilet. had a very bad diarhorrea this morning. LUcky for me when the run started, i felt better

THe run this year was much better as compared to previous years. Heard lots of negative comments about the run last year.

Well, it sure surpassed itself this year. There was order in all aspects. The baggage service was good as compared to last year.

Anyway, i was quite proud of my run today. i ran a PB of 90 mins. Good improvement for me.

I still have a long way to go. i hope i can further improve on my PB for the NIKE run and then for SCM.

Today, since morning, i have been running around non stop. Not bad, i finally started running liao in the morning. How i wish. I been having running nose since yesterday and fever.

Today, think i did so~so for my IBS paper. I only wish that this sem, i am able to clear all my papers. that is good enough for me already. I dun wish for a distinction but juz a pass in all my papers this sem.

Was supposed to meet James for lunch today but he cant make it last minute as he had a conference call at 1pm to attend to. So, i had lunch on my own. Went shopping to get myself a a pair of running shorts. Got 2 pairs of MIZUNO running shorts.

Despite me being sick, i went to FF for a work out today. cool it was a great work out for me.

i felt much better after the work out. at least i dun feel as shitty as i was in the morning.

I hope i am able to run this Sunday for the MIZUNO.

Yo, i signed up for my 2nd marathon in my life. I paid SGD50, inclusive transport, only as i was a runner last year.

This gonna be my 2nd marathon and i fear that it is tougher than sundown as it is road running. i better pull up my socks and start training in AUG.

Target to do it under 5 hours man.

It rained the whole day today. Was at the library mugging today and i went FF in the evening to werk out.

Night Festival @ the National Museum

The moment i touched down in Singapore, I met up with Billy and Ai Ling @ Cathay as we have arranged to meet up to watch a performance at the National Museum. So guess what, with my luggage, i made my way down to Cathay...

We met at Ben & Jerry as Ai Ling wanted to eat Ice cream. It was fun. Me and Ai Ling tagged team and we disturbed Billy throughout the whole night.

Full with ice cream and laughter, we made our way to SMU and we caught the performance from SMU.

Munching on fries before the start of the performance..

Aint she pretty? How I wish she is my wife?
She has the X factor that i am looking in my wife. And she is looking virtuous.

Habitat for Humanity, Batam Indonesia

As I have mentioned, I was in Batam for community services. Though, this was my 2nd time in Batam for the Habitat for Humanity Project, i pretty enjoy the experienced especially the one that I just went.

The session was pretty interesting and different. On Friday, we were assisting to build the house of a fellow priest. And the interesting part was that, there was like 16 of us at the same work site building the house. Though the numbers was big, there was a mountain of tasks for us to accomplish.

The most challenging task for the 10 -12 of us, of both sexes, were the digging of the septic tank, 1.4m deep by 1.4m wide, and the leveling of the ground. The whole group of diggers, equipped only with shovels and spade, had a tough task ahead of us. Nevertheless, we all had a system in place as we progress with our work and manage to complete the tasks required.

To end off, i enjoy the service trip and made a lot of friends with Dothi, Vince, Alvin, Tony, Dan, Egna and many more.

To the home owners of the families that we have assisted, I hope you guys will enjoy your new home and may god bless you guys with health and happiness

Thank goodness for our fellow colleagues from India, NZ and Europe. Why do i say that? Got a colleague from India who owns a grape farm and he use to toil in the farm, our colleagues from NZ and Europe who use to scrape the snow of the walk during winter. Their digging expertise assisted u to accomplish the werkz well.

At the resort, I had the room to myself... Wow.... Rsn being so as my room mate came with his wife and thus he has booked another room together.

One thing, i learnt is that Christians in Batam goes for Sat am service i/o of Sunday.

Back in Singapore.
I arrive back in Singapore approximately 18.45 hours and cleared the immigration by 1900 hrs.
On the way for the ferry to deck at Harbour Front, we were greeted by the mass Flag past of the NDP 08 Celebrations.

As I mentioned, i was in Indonesia since Friday morning with a team of my fellow colleagues to assist few families in physically building their house. This time round, not much photos were taken.

Day 1

This shot was taken when we are almost done leveling the ground.

When we reach the worksite, the soil was like one hill of it which was unevenly distributed. Using shovels and spade, we have to dig and level the ground. We took like 6 for a team of 10.

While majority of us are digging and digging, we have our 6 maiden ladies bending the wires for the columns of the building structural.

Vince, since living in LA for thje past 12 years, now back in SG in 2007 is as red as a lobster at the work site.

Goodby by Jessica Folcker

I can see the pain living in your eyes
And I know how hard you try
You deserve to have so much more
I can feel your hurt and I sympathize
And I'll never criticize
All you ever meant to my life
I don't want to let you down
I don't want to lead you on
I don't want to hold you back from
where you might belong

Chorus:
You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
But I just can't live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
But there's nothing left to say - but goodbye

You deserve a chance at the kind of love
I'm not sure I'm worthy of
Losing you is painful for me
I don't want to let you down
I don't want to lead you on
I don't want to hold you back from
where you might belong

Chorus

You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
But I just can't live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
But there's nothing left to try
and though it's gonna hurt us both
there's just no other way than to say goodbye

10 Things You Must Know About Fat Loss

Ever wondered why there are so many diets around out there and people are just getting fatter and fatter. We now know that fad and repeat dieting don't work, so what does! I have put together 10 fat loss tips below and if followed will make things a lot easier for you on your road to fat loss.

Lets have a look at a few:

Burn Fat: Lift Weights - Muscle determines the speed of your metabolism - the speed of your metabolism depends on how much muscle you have. That's why men burn fat faster than women... They have more muscle. Women could burn fat faster if they had more muscle.

Women are scared to lift weights because they will get bigger muscles!! If only this was were the case. Women do not have the hormone levels to build big muscles, however they can replace the muscle tissue lost through years of crazy dieting, irregular eating habits and age.

Yes everybody is losing muscle, every year; every decade because we are getting older, but only people who let their muscles waste away have slower metabolisms as they get older. Keep your muscles and keep your fat burning machine! The only way to do this is get strong and stay strong.

Toss The Scales - The scales tell you none of the things you need to know about your body and everything you don't. They don't tell you how much fat you have under your skin, they don't tell you how much skin for that matter. The scales can't tell you how much fluid is in your body.

What your bones weigh and most importantly, how much muscle you have? However, weighing yourself can turn a perfectly good day into a miserable day? Don't let an inanimate, household item determine what kind of day you will have! They are not accurate so throw them away.

Muscle Vs Fat - Muscle weighs two times as much as fat yet takes up half the space.

Muscle is responsible for burning fat. Muscle is small when compared with fat. Muscle never hangs off your body in unsightly lumps.

Muscle looks toned, tight, strong and lean. Muscle is tight and hard to the touch and muscle is heavy. Fat is lumpy and soft and flabby, fat takes up a lot of space, fat hangs off your body. Fat is also soft to the touch and does not weigh as much as muscle.

Always Eat Breakfast - Research has concluded that having breakfast is important to kick-start the metabolism for the day, the body slows down whilst sleeping and food first thing in the morning actually awakens the body ready for the rest of the day. Also try eating more fibre at this time as it helps the digestive system work more effectively and will help keep the blood sugar levels spread evenly throughout the day.

Don't Cut Back On Calories - Food has a heating effect on the body increasing your metabolic rate; don't eat less than 1200 calories, as this will throw the body into a starvation mode. Your metabolism will then slow down to conserve the calories that you do have. Try to avoid fad diets if possible as they restrict or reduce the nutrients flowing to the body, which in turn slows down the metabolic rate.

Eat Small Regular Meals - Eat five or six small meals a day as this will trick the body into thinking that there is an abundance of food and will stop your metabolism from slowing down, keeping your sugar levels at a normal level and this will stop you overeating. Try eating the majority of your food earlier in the day, as the majority of the calories will be burned up while you are awake and active.

Count Calories - The way to keep track of weight loss is to buy a calorie counter and record your daily calorie intake for a week. Average out your calories for the day and then decrease the calories by 300 - 500 (No More) then gauge what happens.

By decreasing the amount of calories per day to this amount you should start losing weight. Don't go any lower; check the mirror as well as the scales to judge your progress.

Don't Repeat Diet - Research shows repeated dieting actually makes it harder to lose weight and easier to put it on because when you dump the diet and return to normal eating habits the drop in metabolic rate caused by the diet means that your old habits actually represent an excess in calories.

Not only do you regain the fat stores just lost, but also you may even gain an extra bit. If you find your weight loss starting to slow or stop over a period of time, increase your walking pace a little or throw in a couple of hills along your route.

Keep Track Of Fats - This may appear difficult to maintain and calculate but it isn't. On nearly all packaged food these days there is a nutritional label with a fat indicator per 100gms of that particular food. What your looking for here is a figure below 10 gms and nearing 5 gms would be the ideal. So purchasing and consuming foods around this range you'll be on your weight loss target.

The Low down On Fats - It is stored in the fat cells of the body. The number of fat cells is estimated to be around 50 billion for the average person. It can be up to 100 billion for the obese person. Fat cells are like storage tanks of energy to be used for later use. It has been shown that obese people who binge eat may stimulate baby fat cells to sprout to increase the number of fat cells.

Believe me, once you start applying these 10 tips to your everyday weight loss regime you will start to notice the difference in a short period of time.

"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living, I want to know what you
ache for. It doesn't interest me how old you are, I want to know if you'll risk
looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
I want to know if you can live with failure, both yours and mine and still shout
at the edges of a lake, river or mountain, "Yes, I am a warrior poet'. It
doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have, I want to
know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to
the bone and do what need to be done for someone you love. Live more than your
neighbours. Unleash yourself upon the world and go places, go now. Giggle, no,
laugh and bark at the moon like the wild dog you are. Understand that this is
not a dress rehearsal, this is it, your life. Face your fears and live your
dreams. Take it all in, yes, every chance you get, come close. I want to know if
you can be alone with yourself and truly like the company you keep in the empty
moments of your life and still remember me, your friend, the BlazeMan, ALS
Warrior Poet."

Running is simply bliss, euphoria, victory, and genuine happiness rolled into one. When I run, the world is literally at my feet and all for the taking. I have complete power not just over the course I'm going to take but over everything else in my life. The stresses of the day just melt away. I feel fitter, healthier and stronger. I pay more attention to the little things--like the wind blowing on my face, the sound of my shoe hitting the pavement, the sun rising--so it allows me to see more beauty in life too.

How can one hour of running in a day make such a significant difference in one's life? I don't really know. It just does.

"Life is what we make it. Always has been, always

Am glad that the week ended on a good note today.

Today was an interesting day for me as I face different situations in a day.

Before i blog on what happen today, here is a sneak preview of my feet at the start of the day and at the end of the day.

Well, after one whole day under the sun, this is how my feet looks like now.

its like my feet has morphed to Xmen.

Was at the OSIM Triathlon 2008 @ East Coast Park today. I reported for duty as early as 5 am.
Was there as a BIKE MARSHAL and the best part was that i get to bump into Mok Ying Ren, He is our first national triathelete to go to the OLYMPICS. He is quite young u noe and he is currently studying in local uni.

Since i am alone, i was paired off with this youth who is frm Catholic High. Apparently, he is in Sec 3 and his name is Shawn.

I have never met a youth of his "callibre"
Why do I say that? DO you know that he was complaining the whole day? Complaining things like the weather is so hot, why are the runners running bloody slow and the best ultimate one which i took is as a personal attack. We were waiting for the 2nd wave of the run. Organizers told us that it will take approximately 3o mins for the next race to start ie 11.45 am. He went to the beach and sit on the bench with a umbrella. Fine.... Then came the first woman running in... Guess what he say.... Why is a fat woman like her running? Look at her butt and so on.. He was attacking fat people saying things like they are useless, a disgrace to the nation and should consider killing themselves. I was like..... and the best part he said that she muz be from the 1st wave.... guess she was lost and since she was bloody slow might as well give up....I almost blare Shawn.... but i tolerated since this is an international event held in public. Mine you the ang moh lady is not tat fat.she only big ass tats all and she is the first runner of the 2nd wave....

Tat was one incident. Next it rain a few times while we are on duty. Once, it rained heavily, we decided to abandon our posts and seek shelter while the race is on. the heavy shower lasted not more than 10 mins. Afer which, i told him to get back to position. He say nah... it is still raining. u wan u go ahead.. this is the kind of attitude that he is giving me. Mind you, he is doing this for CIP. tell me which CIP activity provides you an allowance, free tee, food and drinks. Nope.. dun have unless u help out at sporting events. He was given all this and yet he still made noise saying tat he is under paid for it.... I was like.... Aren't you doing this as a volunteer?

I decided to ignore him liao....... Frustrated with this boy oredi.

Last @ 3pm, he complained again.. saying tat the organizers told him tat the event will end at 3pm... he made noise again saying like when the fuck will this event end? why are the runners running slowly? I may not be a triathelete but after running a marathon, i find that a race aint ez... though the running distance for this event is 10km... but u mus remember that they have to swim in the open sea for 1.5km, cycle long distance and then run for it man... it aint easy. For me, if one can finish it, it is good enough. and then from there improve ur PB

My day ended with a sweet icing. At 4.15 pm, came our last runner.... Apparently, he is having cramps and was walking the 10km. based on experience, walking 10 km takes 100 min. He finish the 1st round and we all tot he would gave up... but he did not... he told me after the turning point of 2.5km, he aint give up. he aint done yet. he will finish it all the way man

The last runner finish the event at 6.00pm Nevertheless though he was the last one, he never gave up. In, quite a number of us plus the medics rally around him and run together with him in the last 5km of the event. I believe he must felt very happy and honored to have so many people rally around him and running with him.
And the best part was that he was given a grand entrance by the organizers. He, has us running with him side by side, the organizers giving him a victory galore entrance, fanfare music and guard of honour aisle for him. Phew that was an entrance for him. Being part of making history for the athletes to complete the event made me feel proud of myself. Kinda remind of myself when i am running the last 500m of Sundown which is my first marathon. It felt good as so many people believe in me that i can do it.
